RAIN FRAGMENTS (KATKELMIA SATEESTA), 2021
A site-specific work for a newspaper

Do you remember if the color of the river has changed?
The wonderland is coming. It’s a bit like being in a rainforest.
Are you so picky that you want the original nature?
We will start rowing here very soon.
But that’s how we used to think about it, everything that goes into the water just disappears.

Rain Fragments (Katkelmia sateesta), created in collaboration with cultural anthropologist Inkeri Aula and the SENSOTRA research project, is a site-specific work for the Satakunnan Kansa newspaper from September 6-10, 2021. The sensory observations and memories collected from Western Finland tell us about its changing surroundings. The five short phrases were printed daily in the advertisement section of the newspaper, one each day. The text fragments were a part of a larger collaborative work, The Rains Are Different Now (Sade on toisenlaista nyt), exhibited at the Poriginal Gallery of Pori Art Museum a year prior.
